May 13

Gray skies brought welcomed rain, a day of indoor chores, and made the colors on the farm even more brilliant.

Used as storage all winter long, the store was organized, scrubbed clean, and swept to welcome our community members in a few weeks for share pick-ups.  The rain carried cool moist air into the barn, and a soothing beat from the roof top.  We harvested Bordeaux Spinach with gorgeous magenta stems, and delighted in its color and flavor over lunch.  Beds are beginning to bulge and produce is multiplying.  There is no doubt that the season is well underway!

The seven Great Pyrenees puppies, 4 boys and 3 girls, are getting cuter by the day and will need loving homes come Mid-June.  They will be $600 with their shots.  If you are interested, contact Lucretia.

Also, the first Medicinal Herb Class will be held on Saturday, June 29th from 9am to 12pm.  It will be an introduction, including identification of medicinal herbs and their uses with lessons on how to make simple tinctures, oils and teas.  A second class, on making medicinal syrups, will be offered this Fall.  If you have an Herb Share, one free class is included!  If you do not have an herb share, but would like to participate, the cost of the class is $40.  Contact Lucretia to reserve your spot.

There are still a few shares left, so contact us today:  2013 Milkweed Farm CSA Application
