This morning as Sophie and I arrived at the pond with Daire’s 11 ducks, a great blue heron was asleep at the water’s edge. Quietly we toed the shores, as the ducks dove in, relishing their morning dip, as the fog rolled off the water’s surface. Our winged visitor awoke, observed his fellow pond dwellers, and didn’t seem to mind sharing the water.
The Woodruffs are off for the week- on their annual family adventure in Baxter State Park. Clare and I will be here for the week tending to the farm, along with our wonderful work-shares, and our dear friends Kirstin, Sophie, William, and Ola. It is such a wonderful time of year to be here; the fields are bursting with vegetables, fruits, flowers, herbs, and laughter. We are so excited for this week’s offerings, and are reminded by the hundreds of cucumbers, and boat loads of summer squash that it is time to start putting food up for the coming seasons!
